After a long long long car ride (I took some sleeping pills to make it go by faster), it was so amazing to get here to the beach in Jbay! I love it!

Sunday morning my team woke up early for prayer on the beach, after which Bailey and I got some good quick bodysurfing in before church started. We definitely took advantage of the beach being a block away. Later on Sunday we had free time to spend at the beach, but the wind was terrible so we decided to relax in the sun on the grass above to avoid getting pelted with sand. Unfortunately none of us were smart enough to protect our skin that has been covered for three months and we paid a big price. About four of my friends and I were burnt to a crisp!! That evening we attended a local church at a mission college. It was great to interact with the people of the town and experience a foreign ENGLISH speaking service! The service definitely reminded us all a bit of home.

Monday was VERY stormy, which made the walk to ministry very difficult. I was dressed in shorts, a tshirt, and a borrowed rain jacket and I got completely drenched from the sideways pelting rain! It was like a crazy monsoon ourside, I have never experienced weather quite like it. Despite the weather we were able to visit some of Amber’s friends here in Jbay which was awesome.

Yesterday and today we were given time to get to know the town a bit more for ourselves. We were supposed to start our conference today, but our speakers missed their flights.. ooops! The weather today is amazing though, so after having some team time on the beach, I got in a few good hours of surfing! It definitely hit home for me, AND gave me a great workout!

Hopefully I will be able to spend a lot more time in the water before going back to Johannesburg!
